Back in 2021, MetaMask engineer Erik Marks raised the idea of community ownership.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"977\" data-end=\"1266\">In May, MetaMask co-founder Dan Finlay suggested that if a token launch were to happen, it would be announced directly within the wallet. While nothing was certain at the time, Lubin\u2019s latest comments show that the release of MASK is no longer just a possibility but an imminent reality.<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"1268\" data-end=\"1301\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Consensys_Token_Experience\"><\/span>Consensys\u2019 Token Experience<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"1302\" data-end=\"1678\">Consensys recently executed a large token distribution for <strong data-start=\"1361\" data-end=\"1370\">Linea<\/strong>, its Ethereum Layer-2 solution. A total of 9.36 billion LINEA tokens were distributed to eligible addresses. Lubin noted that the process was highly effective, with Consensys only taking a modest 15% share, while the rest was allocated to developers, liquidity providers, and community growth initiatives.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1680\" data-end=\"1782\">This example suggests that the MASK token may also be launched with a strong community-driven focus.<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"1784\" data-end=\"1827\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"mNAV_Discussions_and_SharpLink_Gaming\"><\/span>mNAV Discussions and SharpLink Gaming<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"1828\" data-end=\"2096\">Lubin also serves as Chairman of the Board at <strong data-start=\"1874\" data-end=\"1894\">SharpLink Gaming<\/strong>, a publicly traded Ethereum treasury company. Recently, the firm\u2019s market net asset value (mNAV) ratio fell below 1, indicating that its shares are trading at a discount compared to the ETH it holds.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2098\" data-end=\"2386\">According to The Block, SharpLink\u2019s mNAV currently stands at 0.80x. This has raised concerns about investor confidence and the company\u2019s ability to raise capital. However, Lubin argued that this is a cyclical issue and that rising ETH prices would have a positive impact on the company:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p data-start=\"2388\" data-end=\"2505\">\u201cWith Ether returning to all-time highs, we will see investor confidence return to the market as well,\u201d Lubin said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p data-start=\"2507\" data-end=\"2699\">SharpLink CEO Joseph Chalom also described the drop in mNAV as a<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p data-start=\"2507\" data-end=\"2699\">\u201ctemporary dislocation\u201d, stressing that the firm remains committed to generating long-term returns from its ETH holdings.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h2 data-start=\"2701\" data-end=\"2729\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"A_New_Era_for_MetaMask\"><\/span>A New Era for MetaMask<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"2730\" data-end=\"3004\">The MASK token is seen as more than just a wallet token\u2014it represents a step toward strengthening community ownership and decentralization within the Ethereum ecosystem.
