The number of U.S. merchants accepting Bitcoin payments has tripled, while global usage rose by 74% in 2025. Activity on the Lightning Network surged by 300%, with estimated monthly transaction volume now exceeding $1.1 billion.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2046\" data-end=\"2451\">At the sovereign level, five additional nation-states became Bitcoin holders in 2025. These include purchases linked to two sovereign wealth funds in Luxembourg and Saudi Arabia, a central bank acquisition in the Czech Republic, and direct involvement from Brazil and Taiwan.
