The popular Bitcoin Lightning<\/strong> wallet application Wallet Of Satoshi<\/strong>\u00a0(WoS) is receiving backlash from cryptocurrency users due to its removal from the US<\/strong> App Store<\/strong>. The Bitcoin Lightning<\/strong> payment app, WoS<\/strong>, was removed from the Apple App Store<\/strong> and Google Play Store<\/strong> in the US after conducting over a million transactions in November.<\/p>\n

On November 24th, a number of users and cryptocurrency community members shared their searches for the Wallet Of Satoshi<\/strong> app on Twitter; however, these searches either yielded no results or directed users to other wallet applications. This situation triggered a negative response against Apple among cryptocurrency users.<\/p>\n

Industry writer and podcast host Kevin Rooke<\/strong> stated that WoS was a popular platform that made over 1.1 million Lightning payments in November 2021, and added that this was the company’s “busiest month of Lightning payments” to date.<\/p>\n

Both Apple<\/strong> and Wallet of Satoshi<\/strong> have yet to respond for further explanation on the matter. The 30% tax applied by Apple<\/strong> for in-app payments serves as a barrier for cryptocurrency platforms that want to be listed on the App Store<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

On November 17th, a group of PayPal<\/strong>, Venmo,<\/strong> and Block Cash App<\/strong> users claimed that Apple had engaged in anti-competitive agreements to restrict cryptocurrency technology and payments on iOS, and launched a class-action lawsuit.<\/p>\n

Apple’s<\/strong> previous actions in removing crypto apps are also known. These actions include the removal of the Damus<\/strong> app in June due to its Bitcoin<\/strong> tip feature. and the brief removal of the MetaMask<\/strong> wallet app in October.<\/p>\n
