They facilitate untrusted communication between the outside world and on-chain environments.<\/p>\n<p><b>They <\/b>have advanced decentralized finance <a href=\"https:\/\/coinengineer.net\/blog\/bearish-defi-project-berachain-raises-69-million\/\"><strong>(DeFi)<\/strong><\/a> and many parts of the <strong>Blockchain<\/strong> industry, including <strong>Web3<\/strong> applications. Incoming data are voted on with DAOs and accepted as correct if unchallenged.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>optimistic<\/strong> <strong>oracle<\/strong> also known as a \u201c<strong>a human-powered truth machine<\/strong>\u201d is making global markets universally fair and reliable.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"How_Does_Uma_Work\"><\/span>How Does Uma Work?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>In UMA&#8217;s <strong>optimistic<\/strong> <strong>oracle<\/strong>, there are three elements: data requester, data provider and potential objector.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Request:<\/strong> Token holders generate Data requests.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Offer:<\/strong> The contract requests data. The offeror pledges a collateral and the data is transferred to <strong>blockchain<\/strong> if accepted as correct. Then he regains hiscollateral and they can challenge the data if they think it is wrong during the objection period.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Objection:<\/strong> There can be someone who does not accept the data provided by the offeror and this person pledges a certain amount of collateral and the <strong>UMA<\/strong> team resolves the issue within <strong>48<\/strong> hours. If the objector is right, part of the collateral pledged is given as a reward, but if they are unjust, they lose all the collateral pledged and this <strong>fund<\/strong> is given to the offeror.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_Makes_Uma_Different\"><\/span>What Makes Uma Different?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><strong>Its optimistic<\/strong> oracle is more flexible than other oracles because of its human-supported system, and erroneous and repetitive data are voted on the <strong>DAO<\/strong> and sorted out in agreement. Leader of the team, <strong>Hart Lambur<\/strong>, who after completing his education in Computer Sciences at <strong>Colombia University<\/strong>, was on the research team in the same university&#8217;s robotics laboratory.<\/p>\n<p>Later, <strong>Hart Lambur<\/strong> who interested in trade, started at <strong>Goldman Sachs<\/strong> (2005-2013) with <strong>interest Rate Trade<\/strong>. He learned about <strong>arbitrage<\/strong>, <strong>hedge<\/strong> <strong>funds<\/strong> and <strong>leveraged transactions<\/strong> at Goldman Sachs. It serves as the most clearly experienced platform of Optimistic Oracle use.<\/p>\n<p>For example; Will Trump win the election? You vote &#8220;yes&#8221; or &#8220;no&#8221; by putting up a certain collateral, and if you&#8217;re right, you get the reward.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Activities\"><\/span>Activities<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><strong>UMA<\/strong> has <strong>54<\/strong> shared on <strong>Github<\/strong> and it updates its files frequently. It has an active Twitter account and frequently makes shares with <strong>65.8k<\/strong> followers currently.
