A new wave of innovation hits the crypto space, and this time it’s Coinbase leading the charge. The largest U.S.-based crypto exchange announced that users will soon access decentralized exchanges (DEXs) on Ethereum Layer 2 Base directly through the main Coinbase app.
At the State of Crypto Summit, Chief Legal Officer Paul Grewal said: “Millions of assets get created and traded on decentralized exchanges, but only a few people have been able to access them easily. That’s why today, I’m incredibly excited to share that we’ll be integrating Base DEXs into the Coinbase app.”
“If It’s Onchain, It’s On Coinbase”
With this integration, users will no longer need separate wallets or complex settings to interact with Base-based assets. Coinbase is making decentralized trading as seamless as possible, allowing users to explore DeFi without leaving the centralized app experience.

Aerodrome Reacts to the News
Aerodrome, Base’s leading DEX, saw an 18% surge following the announcement. The platform currently accounts for over 50% of Base’s weekly volume, processing $3.37 billion of the network’s total $5.07 billion.
Although the rollout begins with Base, Coinbase hinted at expansion to other networks like Ethereum and Solana in the future—potentially turning its app into a multi-chain gateway for DeFi users worldwide.
New Bitcoin Cashback Credit Card
Alongside the integration news, Coinbase also revealed the Coinbase One Card—a new American Express credit card offering up to 4% cashback paid in Bitcoin.
