Meta has officially launched a new stand-alone artificial intelligence app that directly competes with ChatGPT. The app is powered by the company’s own Llama AI model and includes a “Discover” feed that displays how users interact with it.

This launch marks Meta’s first stand-alone AI assistant, following its integration of Meta AI into Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger earlier in 2024. Big Investment, Bigger Expectations
Meta plans to invest up to $65 billion in AI infrastructure this year. According to Meta CFO Susan Li, Meta AI reached 700 million monthly active users in January, up from 600 million in December 2024.
The app’s launch coincides with the first LlamaCon developer event at Meta’s Menlo Park, California headquarters. Investors are watching closely to see how these developments affect the company’s financials.
