Bitlight (LIGHT) is an infrastructure project built on the RGB protocol within the Bitcoin ecosystem. Developed by Bitlight Labs, the project enables native smart contracts, stablecoin payments, and RGB-20 assets on Bitcoin and the Lightning Network.
The RGB protocol leverages Bitcoin’s UTXO model to enable off-chain smart contracts and asset issuance, making Bitcoin more scalable and functional. The LIGHT token serves as an RGB-20 asset, and the project aims to expand the BitcoinFi (Bitcoin-based DeFi) ecosystem. As of September 2025, Bitlight has a market cap of $7M and is preparing for listings on Binance Alpha and Futures, with its TGE (Token Generation Event) scheduled for September 27, 2025.

Project Concept
Bitlight (LIGHT) aims to transform Bitcoin from a store of value into a tool for stablecoin payments and DeFi applications. By integrating RGB protocol and the Lightning Network:
- Smart contracts and asset issuance can run on Bitcoin.
- Stablecoin payments are fast, low-cost, and secure.
- BitcoinFi ecosystem supports lending, borrowing, and liquidity solutions.
- LIGHT token, as an RGB-20 asset, acts as the core of Bitcoin-based scalable finance.

How It Works
Bitlight combines the RGB protocol with the Lightning Network to enable off-chain smart contracts and fast payments on Bitcoin.
- RGB Protocol: Uses Bitcoin’s UTXO model; smart contracts (via AluVM) operate off-chain, with settlement secured on-chain. This increases scalability (high throughput, low fees).
- Lightning Integration (RLN): RGB assets (e.g., stablecoins) are transacted over Lightning channels. Asset-aware routing enables real-time settlement with channel operations aware of asset types.
- LIGHT Token: RGB-20 token imported, minted, and transferred via Bitlight Wallet. Non-custodial design ensures sovereign control over Bitcoin/RGB assets.
- Applications: Stablecoin payments, asset issuance (custom RGB assets), and DeFi (lending, trading). Example: a stablecoin moves instantly and cheaply over Lightning while RGB contracts enforce smart rules.
