What is zkVerify (VFY)?

zkVerify Verification Layer

zkVerify (VFY) is a public, decentralized, high-performance Layer 1 blockchain dedicated to the verification of zero-knowledge proofs (ZKProofs). Its goal is to optimize costly, slow, and limited verification processes for ZK-rollups and ZK-based applications.

On general-purpose networks like Ethereum, verifying a single ZK proof can consume 200,000–300,000 gas and cost between $20–60 during peak times. zkVerify takes on this burden, providing a cheap, fast, and scalable verification layer for multiple networks.

Team & Development

  • Developer: Ellipsis Distributed Systems
  • Lead Contractor: Horizen Labs
  • Designed to solve rising verification costs and EVM limitations with the growth of ZK-rollups.

Partnerships

  • Horizen – Strategic collaboration
  • Base (Coinbase’s L2 solution) – One of the first major integrations
  • Additional: Developer competitions, grants, and community incentives support the ecosystem.

Project Idea and Purpose

The project’s core idea is solving the cost and complexity issues of ZK proof verification. As ZK-rollups and ZK technology expand, affordable and reliable proof verification becomes critical.

Main Goals of zkVerify:

  • Lower Verification Costs: Reduce costs by over 90% compared to Ethereum and stabilize them against gas volatility.
  • Proof System Independence: Directly verify multiple ZK proof systems (STARK, Groth16, Plonky2) without conversion.
  • Universal Verification Layer: Offer seamless, cross-chain verification across ecosystems like Ethereum, Solana, and more.

How It Works (Technical Innovation and Difference)

  • Dedicated Modular L1: A blockchain focused solely on ZK proof verification with its own consensus and security.
  • Proof-Agnostic Architecture: Compatible with Fflonk, Groth16, Plonky2, and easily expandable to new proof systems via runtime upgrades.
  • High Performance: Millisecond-level verification without competition from other transaction types.
  • Workflow: Accepts user-generated ZK proofs, verifies them, and records both proof and result on-chain.

Objectives and Solutions

  • Native verification for STARK and SNARK without conversion.
  • Multi-chain compatibility: Ethereum, Solana, Bitcoin L2s, etc.
  • Up to 90% savings on verification fees.
  • Millisecond-level scalability.

Governance

  • VFY holders can vote on:
  • Network upgrades
  • Protocol changes
  • Adding new proof types

Roadmap

  • May 2024: First testnet launch
  • Sept 2024: Community & developer testing
  • Q1 2025: Volta permanent testnet, staking, governance
  • June 2025: Horizen partnership + Base integration
  • July 2025: 1M verification transactions completed
  • September 30, 2025 – VFY token will be listed on Binance Alpha and Binance Futures.
