Record Staking in Ethereum: Is a Rally Coming?

Ethereum

Significant activity is being observed in the Ethereum (ETH) market. While the largest altcoin, Ethereum, has briefly recovered above the $3,000 level, the price has once again retreated to around $2,900. Beyond this price volatility, the rapid change in the staking queue is sending notable signals regarding investors’ long-term strategies and potential selling pressure.

Record Increase in Ethereum Staking Inflows

According to Validatorqueue data, Ethereum’s staking queue has surpassed the exit queue for the first time in six months. The amount waiting to be staked is approximately 745,600 ETH, while only 360,500 ETH is currently in the exit queue. The staking entry queue stands at 12 days and 20 hours, whereas the exit queue is recorded at 6 days and 2 hours.

This indicates that the number of participants willing to stake ETH is nearly twice those waiting to withdraw. Investors choosing to stake their Ethereum rather than sell it points to a potential reduction in selling pressure and suggests a recovery in mid- to long-term confidence among validators.

The surge in Ethereum’s staking queue has been largely driven by major institutional investors. While institutional ETH holders continue to earn passive returns through staking, they are also reducing the amount of Ether available for sale on the open market. Crypto data platform Lookonchain reported that BitMine Immersion Technologies, the largest institutional holder of Ethereum, staked 342,560 ETH (worth over $1 billion) in just two days. This move played a significant role in the rapid increase in staking volume.

What Is Staking and Why Is It Important?

Ethereum staking allows investors to lock up their ETH on the proof-of-stake (PoS) network in exchange for an annual passive yield of approximately 3–5% APY. Since staked ETH is removed from circulation, overall supply decreases, helping to reduce selling pressure.

This mechanism is considered an important factor supporting Ethereum’s price. A lower circulating supply can create upward pressure on price, especially during periods of strong demand. In addition, staking encourages long-term holding behavior, contributing to market stability. With growing interest from both institutional and retail investors, the expansion of staking volume also strengthens the security and resilience of Ethereum’s proof-of-stake network, supporting the healthy growth of the overall ecosystem.
