SEC Plans Critical Meeting on Tokenization and On-Chain Assets!

SEC Plans Critical Meeting on Tokenization and On-Chain Assets!

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has announced the agenda and panelists for its upcoming roundtable titled “Tokenization — Moving Assets Onchain: Where TradFi and DeFi Meet,” scheduled for May 12, 2025. The Commission also confirmed a date change for its separate event on DeFi.

SEC Commissioner Hester M. Peirce, head of the Crypto Task Force, emphasized that tokenization is a transformative technology with the potential to reshape various aspects of financial markets. “I look forward to hearing insights from our panelists on how the SEC should approach this area,” she said.

The tokenization roundtable will take place from 1:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the SEC headquarters in Washington, D.C. The event is open to the public and will be live-streamed on the SEC’s official website. No registration is required for online attendance.

In addition, the DeFi and the American Spirit” roundtable, originally set for June 6, has been rescheduled to June 9. Registrations from the earlier date will carry over, and new attendees may continue to register.

Who Will Join the SEC Tokenization Panel?

The panel will feature key figures such as Cynthia Lo Bessette (Fidelity), Robert Mitchnick (BlackRock), and Christine Moy (Apollo Management), all of whom have deep investments and experience in crypto assets.

Fidelity has offered Bitcoin custody services to institutional clients since 2018 and continues to promote crypto adoption through ETF applications. Lo Bessette represents the firm’s long-term digital asset strategy.

Robert Mitchnick, Head of Digital Assets at BlackRock, gained attention after the firm’s Bitcoin spot ETF launch. BlackRock actively explores tokenization and the transition of traditional assets to the blockchain.

Christine Moy, a former leader of JP Morgan’s blockchain program, has spearheaded major tokenization initiatives. She now leads digital infrastructure investments at Apollo.

Their presence at the SEC roundtable signals growing alignment between Wall Street and the crypto industry.
