What is BitcoinOs (BOS) ?

BitcoinOS BOS token programmable DeFi and bridges

BitcoinOS is an open protocol designed to extend Bitcoin beyond being a secure store of value into the foundation of a programmable, scalable, and interoperable internet economy. Launched in 2025, BOS uses Bitcoin as its settlement layer and enables developers to create decentralized applications, financial services, and cross-chain solutions. BOS aims to solve blockchain adoption challenges: scalability, programmability, fragmentation, and trustless interoperability.

Vision

BitcoinOS aims to build a programmable, scalable, and interoperable ecosystem while preserving Bitcoin’s security. Its mission is to transform Bitcoin from a store of value into the backbone for secure, enterprise-grade DeFi and digital applications.

Team and Founders

The BitcoinOS team consists of experienced developers in Bitcoin and Layer 2 technologies.

  • Edan Yago: Co-founder & CEO, leading technical and strategic vision of BOS.

Investors and Notable Partners

  • EMURGO (Cardano): Collaborates with BOS to integrate $1.3 trillion of Bitcoin capital into Cardano’s DeFi ecosystem.

  • Sovryn: One of the founding entities and early supporters of the project.

  • Other Partners: Hathor, Wrapped.xyz, and Arichain support cross-chain interoperability and ecosystem development.

Project Concept

BitcoinOS aims to increase Bitcoin programmability while maintaining its security, offering fast and low-cost transactions, trustless cross-chain bridges, and a unified user experience.

How It Works

  • BitSNARK: A virtual machine validating zk-SNARK proofs on Bitcoin and enabling trustless bridges and rollups.

  • Grail Bridge: Provides secure bridges between Bitcoin L1 and other chains.

  • MerkleMesh: Aggregates data from different VMs and verifies it with Bitcoin security for trustless cross-chain interaction.

Governance

BitcoinOS adopts a decentralized governance model. Developers, institutions, and community members contribute to the ecosystem’s growth.

Roadmap

Launched in 2025, BOS focuses on Layer 2 rollups, BitSNARK, Grail technologies, token standards, and SLAM node integration for multichain interoperability. Future plans include institutional DeFi and fast consumer applications.

Token Information

  • Total Supply: 21B BOS

  • Max Supply: 21B BOS

  • Circulating Supply: 470.4M BOS

$BOS Token Utility

  • Marketplace & Computation: Used to prove, verify, and sequence computations on Bitcoin.

  • Coordination Mechanism: Incentivizes network security and liveness.

  • Staking & Rewards: Users stake $BOS to contribute to network security and earn rewards.

SLAM Nodes – BOS Power Users

Running a SLAM node requires holding and staking $BOS. SLAM nodes maintain decentralized SLA and provide trustless connection across Bitcoin and other crypto assets.

Token Distribution

  • Founding Entities: 35%, 4–5 years vesting

  • Ecosystem: 32%, gradual emission up to 12 years

  • User Sales: 33%, unspecified vesting

BOS Ecosystem

  • Programmable DeFi infrastructure

  • Trustless bridges

  • Fast and low-cost Bitcoin transactions

  • Unified experience via SLAM nodes

  • Privacy-focused rollups and protocols

  • Charms: ZK token standard for UTXO blockchains

  • Grail Pro: Secure enclave network for smart contracts

  • zkBTC: Fully collateralized synthetic Bitcoin token

Key Features

  • Rollups & True L2s: BTC-based gas, inherit Bitcoin security

  • Programmable, Unchained Tokens: Universal token standard, cross-chain

  • Unified Ecosystems: SLAM nodes create unified multi-chain experience

  • Trustless Bridging: ZK-proof verified bridges
