The ChillGuy token was launched on the Solana blockchain on November 15, driven by the viral “Just a Chill Guy” meme that gained popularity on social media. The token’s value rapidly increased, reaching a market capitalization of $643 million by November 27. At the time of writing, the memecoin’s trading price is $0.58.
Blockchain data shows that the trader sold 2.8 million tokens early and earned 149 SOL, approximately $35,000.

The Creator of Just a Chill Guy Threatened Legal Action Against The Tokens
While some investors profited from the token’s success, the creator of the Just a Chill Guy character publicly denounced its unauthorized use. On November 21, the artist known as “PhillipBankss” on X stated that he already holds the copyright for the “Chill Guy” character.
The artist announced that he would be issuing takedown requests for commercial use of the artwork in the coming days. Previously, the artist had stated that he neither approved nor consented to the use of this artwork in crypto assets.
Despite the artist’s objections, community members on X believe that enforcement may be challenging. Some argued that memecoins launched in a decentralized and anonymous manner are difficult to regulate or shut down.
Another community member mentioned that the memecoin would continue to exist whether the artist approved it or not, and that the crypto asset has now become immortalized on the blockchain.
