Adidas, the shoe and sports clothing company, has partnered with the Solana-based fitness app Stepn, the latter said on Monday. The collaboration will begin with a batch of 1,000 NFTs called the Stepn x Adidas Genesis Sneakers Collection. It is inspired by some of Adidas’ “most iconic running silhouettes,” according to a release.
“This genesis collection is the first of a series of co-branded activities between Stepn and Adidas over a one-year partnership that will see further NFT drops and physical, wearable items on the roadmap,” Stepn noted in its statement.
The NFT collection will be released later this week, on April 17, through Stepn’s sibling non-fungible token platform, Mooar. Adidas has already formed cryptocurrency-related web3 collaborations with Coinbase, Bored Ape Yacht Club, and Bugatti.
Stepn is a web-based program that allows users to earn cryptocurrencies by walking or running. Stepn, which claims to have 5 million registered members, has previously teamed with a shoemaker. In 2022, Stepn collaborated with Asics.
“That such a physical and digital—or ”phygital’—partnership between the most widely used lifestyle app and a global brand like Adidas is now a reality indicates the direction lifestyle rewards are going,” Stepn CEO Shiti Manghani stated in a statement.
