Alleged Bitcoin Fan, Dell CEO Michael Dell Disappoints

Dell

Dell Technologies CEO Michael Dell, who has recently been in the news for his interest in Bitcoin, disappointed by not making any statements about the cryptocurrency in his second-quarter earnings report.

Dell Technologies focused on the strong earnings it achieved with the increasing demand in the artificial intelligence field in its second-quarter earnings report on August 29, and did not refer to Bitcoin or any other cryptocurrency. This situation revealed that the company, which had been expected to invest in Bitcoin, did not take any steps in this direction.

How Did Bitcoin Speculations Begin?

Speculation about Michael Dell’s possible involvement with Bitcoin increased after Dell made a series of mysterious social media posts in June expressing his positive feelings about cryptocurrencies. These posts led some investors and followers to expect that Dell Technologies could follow in the footsteps of companies like Tesla and MicroStrategy by investing in Bitcoin.

In particular, Michael Dell’s simple post on social media, “rarity brings value”, sparked speculation. Although the post did not directly mention Bitcoin, MicroStrategy CEO Michael Saylor’s response to this post, “Bitcoin is Digital Rarity”, was interpreted as a reference to Bitcoin and attracted great attention.

Is Dell’s Interest in Cryptocurrencies Real?

Michael Dell gave the impression that he was interested in cryptocurrencies with his social media posts. This interest was further reinforced by his sharing of a picture of a Cookie Monster eating Bitcoin and the publication of a video of BlackRock CEO Larry Fink supporting Bitcoin investments. However, despite such posts, there is no concrete evidence that Dell Technologies plans to invest in Bitcoin.

Regardless of Michael Dell’s personal interest in cryptocurrencies, it is clearly seen that Dell Technologies has not taken any steps in this regard.
