Binance has announced that it will temporarily suspend deposits and withdrawals due to planned wallet maintenance on the BNB Smart Chain network on April 17. During this period, users will not be able to perform transactions on the network.
The maintenance will begin at 06:00 (UTC) on April 17, but transactions will be halted five minutes earlier, i.e., at 05:55 AM (UTC). Binance estimates that this process will take approximately one hour. However, the platform stated that this duration is not guaranteed and that transactions will resume once the network is deemed stable.
Binance: Trading Will Continue, Only Transfers Will Be Affected
Binance stated that BNB trading will not be affected during the maintenance period, and only transfers on the BNB Smart Chain will be temporarily halted. Users will not be able to send or withdraw BNB to or from their wallets during this time.
Binance Smart Chain is Rapidly Growing in 2025
Using the BEP-20 standard, BNB Smart Chain is a blockchain network designed similarly to Ethereum’s ERC-20 system and supports smart contracts. Launched in September 2020, the network hosts more than 1,500 decentralized applications (dApps) and is particularly active in the DeFi space.
According to data from DeFi Llama, as of 2025, the network’s total value locked (TVL) stands at $5.14 billion. The number of active addresses exceeds 1.25 million. In the last 24 hours, the network collected $613,000 in transaction fees, while DEX volume surpassed $667 million. Additionally, the network supports over 1,000 projects operating outside the DeFi space.
