The founder of cryptocurrency exchange Binance, Changpeng Zhao (CZ), made striking statements today at the BNB Day event held in Tokyo. CZ revealed that nearly all of his wealth consists of BNB and emphasized the role of DeFi and DEXs in the future of the financial world.
CZ: “The Majority of My Wealth Is in BNB”
During his speech, Zhao explained that BNB Chain is community-driven and that his involvement in the process is limited. He mostly motivates the community through social media, while holding the majority of his personal wealth in BNB.
AI and DEX Vision
CZ also shared the types of projects he would focus on if he were younger:
- AI-powered trading tools
- A privacy-focused perpetual DEX
According to him, decentralized exchanges (DEXs) will surpass centralized exchanges (CEXs) in terms of trading volumes in the future. He also underlined that DeFi represents the future of finance.
Comments on RWA and Digital Asset Treasuries (DATs)
The Binance founder noted that real-world assets (RWA) are still in their early stages but hold significant potential. He also discussed digital asset treasuries (DATs), stating that they can be sustainable if managed properly:
“Single-asset-focused treasuries are simpler, while basket strategies rely heavily on management.”
Japan and Technology Vision
CZ highlighted Japan as a favorable environment in terms of technological development and work culture, urging the expansion of the BNB Chain team in the country. He also pointed to the importance of developing AI- and robotics-based projects.
According to Changpeng Zhao, the next major breakthrough in the crypto ecosystem will come from the convergence of artificial intelligence, real-world assets (RWA), and stablecoins on blockchain.
