The expected move from Backpack has arrived. The platform has officially launched its identity verification process ahead of the upcoming Token Generation Event (TGE). The announcement was shared on X, and verification screens are now active across both web and mobile apps.
The situation is straightforward: Users who don’t complete KYC may not be eligible to claim tokens during TGE.
This early rollout aims to reduce congestion on distribution day and ensure a smoother claim process.
Why now?
Backpack describes this verification as the “first step.” This isn’t just about account security.
At this stage, token claim eligibility is determined early, bot and multi-account risks are filtered out, regional compliance checks are completed, and potential technical bottlenecks on TGE day are minimized. Users who complete KYC are effectively positioned for the upcoming distribution mechanism.
How many tokens unlock at TGE?
According to Backpack’s token allocation details, 25% of the total supply — 250 million tokens — will enter circulation at TGE.
The breakdown looks like this:
-
240 million tokens (24%) allocated to users who previously accumulated points on the platform
-
10 million tokens (1%) reserved for Mad Lads holders
Distribution is based on historical engagement. User activity, earned points, and NFT ownership directly influence allocation size.
In other words, TGE isn’t just a launch — it’s the on-chain outcome of prior participation.

How does verification work?
Users can initiate the process by logging into their Backpack account and heading to the Verification section. The flow follows standard KYC: basic identity details and selfie confirmation. For most users, completion takes only a few minutes.
The official TGE date and full tokenomics have yet to be announced. However, opening verification this early suggests the launch window may not be far off.
