Layer-1 blockchain protocol Qubic made waves in the crypto community last week with its move on the Monero network. Founder Sergey Ivancheglo, backed by community support, has now turned the project’s focus toward the Dogecoin (DOGE) network.
Qubic Community Chooses Dogecoin
According to an announcement on Qubic’s official X account, discussions around Dogecoin are ongoing, and the preparation phase will take time. The post noted:
“Questions about the blockchain’s resilience continue to be raised, and we may have the answers to solve these issues.”
In a community poll, Dogecoin was chosen as the target over other major meme coins such as Kaspa and Zcash. This step demonstrates that Qubic’s community-driven decision-making mechanism is actively functioning.
Debate Over the Monero 51% Attack Continues
Last week, Qubic claimed to control over 51% of Monero’s network hash power. This move allegedly gave the protocol the ability to reorganize six blocks. Qubic clarified that its goal is not merely to attack, but to identify and expose vulnerabilities within the system.
Additionally, Qubic converts the mining rewards it earns into USDT and uses them for QUBIC token burns and distributions. However, some Monero community members argue that the 51% attack was not entirely successful, describing the outcome as affecting “a few lucky blocks.”
Qubic’s Proof-of-Work (PoW) Strategy
Founder Sergey Ivancheglo conducted a community poll asking, “Which PoW blockchain running on ASIC devices should a 51% attack target?” Dogecoin was clearly selected over Kaspa and Zcash. This decision highlights that Qubic’s future strategic moves are shaped through active community participation.
Qubic’s Monero move drew attention to blockchain security and vulnerability detection. Now, with Dogecoin as its next focus, the protocol’s strategic approach is once again in the spotlight. This development is an important step to watch for both the Qubic community and the broader crypto market.
