Abstract developers stated that the wallet drain was not a global AGW issue but specific to the Cardex application.
Platform Investigates Wallet Drain Issue in Cardex Game
Ethereum layer-2 (L2) platform Abstract has launched an investigation into a wallet drain issue after some users reported compromised accounts. The incident occurred following a major milestone for the project’s AGW.
On February 18, Abstract Chain developer 0xBeans announced on X that “some Abstract users” had been affected.
The developer clarified that this was “not a global AGW issue” but rather an isolated vulnerability, possibly within the Abstract-based game Cardex.
“This appears to be related to Cardex. I advise against any interaction for now,” 0xBeans stated.
Abstract Successfully Deploys 1 Million AGW Wallets
The issue emerged a day after Abstract Chain team member 0xCygaar announced on February 17 that 1 million AGW wallets had been successfully deployed.
“We’ve done more than almost anyone else in the space to bring the next generation of smart wallets,” 0xCygaar stated, adding, “We’re just getting started.”
Following the incident, 0xCygaar reiterated that the issue was related to Cardex and urged users to revoke their sessions.
“This is not an issue with AGW’s contracts. There is no exploit in wallet functionality. This specific issue is linked to negligence in session key management on the app’s side,” he explained.
“Our contracts have been audited multiple times. Our session key module has been specifically reviewed. These reports will be published soon,” he added.
