Arkham’s data revealed two transactions in which the hacker transferred 2,500 ETH, each transaction was worth $4 million. The FTX breach occurred on November 11, 2022, shortly after FTX filed for bankruptcy and following the departure of its founder, Sam Bankman-Fried.

During this incident, the unknown attacker managed to leak over $600 million worth of Ether, briefly becoming the 35th largest holder of Ethereum.

Initially, the hacker deposited the stolen coins into CoinMixer, an anonymous Bitcoin mixing service designed to make it difficult to track on-chain Bitcoin transfers.

To further obfuscate the tracking of funds, the asset chose various swaps and bridge transfers.

Following the event, famous on-chain detective ZackXBT speculated that after withdrawing from the mixer, the hacker likely transferred these funds to the crypto exchange OKX.
