Gary Gensler Does Not Think Bitcoin Is a Security

Gary Gensler Sec

The Chairman of the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Gary Gensler, emphasized once again on a television program that Bitcoin is not a security. Gensler stated that he had previously shared this view and said, “This is why people can invest in Bitcoin through ETFs.”

Gensler stated on the Squawk Box program on CNBC that the crypto world has a fundamental trust problem. Drawing attention to the role of the SEC, Gensler stated that fundraising and investment processes should be reported to regulatory institutions. Stating that there are many altcoin projects in the crypto world and that some projects are abused by malicious people, Gensler drew attention to the fact that there are cases of fraud and theft in the sector.

Gensler gave a clear answer to the question about Bitcoin and said, “I don’t think Bitcoin is a security.” Gensler, who recalled that the previous SEC chairman also shared the same opinion, stated that Bitcoin is therefore traded on regulated exchanges through ETFs. However, he refrained from commenting on Bitcoin’s future place.
