Justin Sun, the founder of Tron (TRX), has stepped forward to support the recently detained Telegram CEO, Pavel Durov.
The crypto community was abuzz over the weekend with news that Pavel Durov, the founder of Telegram and Toncoin (TON), had been arrested at an airport in France.
Durov was taken into custody by French authorities on accusations of facilitating illegal activities through Telegram. His arrest has sparked widespread debate, centering around issues of privacy and governmental overreach.
This sudden arrest has led to a significant drop in TON’s value, which is among the top 10 cryptocurrencies. However, the crypto world has rallied in response, with several figures offering their support.
Justin Sun, the Tron (TRX) founder, has been among those offering assistance in crucial moments. He has now extended his hand to help the detained Telegram CEO, Pavel Durov.
Sun proposed the creation of a DAO to support Durov’s release and pledged a donation of $1,000,000 toward this cause.
A $1 Million Pledge!
To back the imprisoned Telegram CEO, the Tron founder has proposed the establishment of ‘FreePavel DAO’ and committed to donating $1 million.
In a post on X, Sun called on the crypto community to rally behind Pavel Durov, who remains in custody in France.
He stated that if the FreePavel DAO could be organized in a decentralized manner and garner sufficient community backing, he would contribute $1 million.
“We must demonstrate the unity of the crypto industry by organizing a FreePavel DAO to legally secure the release of Telegram founder Pavel Durov. With adequate community support, I will donate $1 million.”
