At EthCC, Consensys debuted the MetaMask Delegation Toolkit, therefore attesting to a major turning point in the company’s attempts to support Web3 and blockchain adoption.
A press release distributed to Cointelegraph claims that the toolkit lets developers design distributed apps (DApps) and protocols, providing fresh user experiences.
Any Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) chain enabled by a User Operation Bundler will have the MetaMask Delegation Toolkit available to them, including Arbitrum, Avalanche, Base, Linea, Optimism, and Polygon. A Consensys study comprising 15,000 people between the ages of 18 and 65 claims that many find crypto too complicated and difficult.
“Only 8% of respondents consider themselves to be very familiar with the concept of Web3, which highlights a disconnect between public perceptions of Web3 and its possibility,” says the statement.
By removing repeated user tasks and thereby lowering the requirement for direct interactions with Web3 infrastructure, the toolkit seeks to close this discrepancy between the public view of Web3 and its potential. Regarding systems of permission and enforcement, Finlay informed Cointelegraph that the toolkit lets users “write custom policies.”

Eliminating the requirement for seed phrase maintenance, the MetaMask Delegation Toolkit allows instantaneous user onboarding without requiring extensions or program installs. The official press release states that the toolkit would “eliminate user friction completely,” hence removing pop-ups and continual confirmations for better interactions.
It will also enable “gasless transactions or postponed or reassessed gas costs,” therefore facilitating improved control of gas fees. Finlay covered the finer points, noting that a user connecting to a website states, “I want to do this; this is what I need.”
“(With the toolkit), users can decide exactly under what conditions they would allow that to be done; now you can have continuous flows inside the website without needing confirmations.”
