Metaplanet Increases Bitcoin Reserves by 162 BTC, Reaching 3,050 BTC
Tokyo-listed investment firm Metaplanet announced on Wednesday that it had added 162 BTC to its reserves, bringing its total Bitcoin holdings to 3,050 BTC.
Metaplanet CEO Simon Gerovich stated that the company spent approximately $13.5 million on this latest acquisition, paying $83,123 per Bitcoin. The total value of Metaplanet’s Bitcoin holdings is currently around $249.4 million, although the acquisition cost was approximately $253.7 million.
Metaplanet Continues to Raise Bitcoin Acquisition Targets: Aiming for 10,000 BTC by 2025
Since announcing its Bitcoin acquisition strategy in April 2024, Metaplanet has been steadily increasing its Bitcoin reserves. The company solidified its commitment by designating Bitcoin treasury operations as one of its core business lines in December 2024.
The most recent purchase took place just a week ago, when Metaplanet acquired 497 BTC for $43.9 million. The company has added nearly 1,300 BTC to its holdings this year.
Metaplanet aims to acquire 10,000 BTC by the end of 2025 and plans to reach 21,000 BTC by the end of 2026.
The company’s stock price has risen 8.1% to 3,610 yen at the time of writing in Japan, with the shares still trading in the afternoon session.
