Japanese investment firm Metaplanet continues its Bitcoin accumulation strategy. On March 3, the company announced the purchase of another 156 Bitcoin (BTC), bringing its total Bitcoin holdings to 2,391 BTC. The firm’s CEO Simon Gerovich announced that they are evaluating the possibility of listing Metaplanet shares in different markets, such as the US, to make them more accessible to global investors.
Metaplanet’s Bitcoin Investment Strategy Gains Strength
With its latest purchase, Metaplanet invested $13.4 million, buying 156 BTC at an average of $85,890 per Bitcoin. The company’s total Bitcoin investment reached $196.3 million. The firm’s Bitcoin investment strategy, which it has been following since April 2023, has so far yielded a 13% gain.
Metaplanet’s long-term goal is much bigger: The company aims to reach 21,000 Bitcoins by 2026 and plans to lead Japan’s Bitcoin adoption.
Metaplanet is the 14th Largest Bitcoin Holder in the World
According to BitcoinTreasuries.NET, Metaplanet is currently the 14th largest institutional Bitcoin investor in the world. The firm has been pursuing a strategy of increasing Bitcoin accumulation using various financial instruments since April 2023 and aims to lead the Bitcoin revolution in Japan.
If the company is listed on larger exchange platforms in the US, global investors may have even easier access to Metaplanet and the firm’s Bitcoin investments may find more support.
Metaplanet’s aggressive Bitcoin strategy and international expansion plans are among the developments that should be carefully monitored in terms of institutional Bitcoin investments in the coming period.
