Solana’s Frankendancer Upgrade Launched and Price Went Up

Solana Ore

Solana’s Frankendancer upgrade has officially launched on the network’s mainnet, contributing to a 9% surge in the price of SOL over the past 24 hours. This upgrade is a significant milestone, incorporating elements of the Firedancer validator client, which was showcased during a live demo by Jump Crypto at the 2024 Solana Breakpoint conference.

The Frankendancer upgrade is designed to optimize the performance of validators and improve the overall scalability of the network. It aims to rewrite key components of the Solana Labs client to ensure that validators can operate at their maximum capacity. By optimizing performance at each level, the upgrade will allow Solana to better handle increasing bandwidth demands and more complex hardware.

The upgrade also introduces measures to standardize and document the Solana protocol, making it easier for new validators to join the network. This is expected to increase the diversity of validator clients and enhance the resilience of the Solana ecosystem.

At the same time, Jump Crypto’s Chief Science Officer Kevin Bowers announced that the complete Firedancer validator client is now running on the testnet, though no specific date for its mainnet launch was provided.

This new development follows the launch of ZK Compression on Solana’s mainnet, further advancing the network’s capabilities and contributing to the bullish sentiment surrounding SOL.
