SpaceX Completes First Crypto-Funded Flight!

Spacex 2

A historic SpaceX mission has successfully completed the first manned space flight to orbit the Earth’s poles. The mission, named “Fram2,” was financed and led by crypto entrepreneur Chun Wang, the founder of F2Pool.

A Private Space Mission Funded by Crypto

The spacecraft lifted off from Cape Canaveral, Florida, on April 1 at 1:46 am UTC. The mission aimed to complete a three- to five-day orbit over the North and South Poles.

Chun Wang, a Chinese-born Maltese entrepreneur, paid for the mission but did not disclose the cost. Alongside Wang, three crew members joined the journey:

  • Rabea Rogge, a German polar scientist
  • Jannicke Mikkelsen, a Norwegian cinematographer
  • Eric Philips, an Australian Arctic explorer

Wang’s Influence in the Crypto World

Chun Wang founded F2Pool in 2013, which became China’s first major Bitcoin mining pool. Today, it remains the fourth-largest mining pool, controlling about 10% of the market.

In 2018, he launched Stakefish, an Ethereum staking platform. It currently ranks as the eighth-largest staking pool, with over 2,000 validators.

After liftoff, the SpaceX Dragon capsule reached the South Pole in under 30 minutes, flying approximately 265 miles (430 km) above Earth. The crew circled the planet every 1.5 hours before their scheduled return.
