Tevaera, a web3 gaming company running on Ethereum Layer 2 zkSync Era, has raised $5 million in seed and private funding. Part of this funding will be used to expand Tevaera’s team and launch a Layer 3 game chain on zkSync, according to Gav Negi, one of the firm’s co-founders.
This $5 million seed and private financing round was led by Laser Digital and Nomura Group. The round also included Hashkey Capital, Fenbushi Capital, Matter Labs, Draper Dragon, Crypto.com Capital, Cogitent Ventures, Faculty Group, DWF Labs, Morningstar Ventures, DCF God, Momentum, GBV, Selini, Mapleblock, Coinswitch, GD10 Capital, Aquanow and others. It also attracted the participation of many investors.
Tevaera’s goal is to attract 2 million players and 12 game developers to Tevaera by the end of the year. Gav Negi stated that this funding is an important milestone to accelerate the roadmap of building a ZK Stack-powered gaming ecosystem on zkSync.
Tevaera offers web3 games, including “Guardian Islands”, a fantasy strategy game, and “Teva Run”, a multiplayer racing game. It also provides an NFT marketplace and a decentralized exchange. According to Tevaera’s website, the firm has more than 850,000 players and almost 2.5 million in-use NFTs.
Tevaera launched mainnet zkSync Era, a Layer 2 protocol using zero-knowledge proofs that aggregates and records transactions on Ethereum. zkSync Era is also a zkEVM, meaning it is a protocol using zero-knowledge proofs that is compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine. zkSync Era is part of the ZK Stack, a blockchain-focused technology stack that uses zero-knowledge proofs.
