In a move to enhance Bitcoin (BTC) usage within its ecosystem, the TON Foundation, the governing body of the Telegram-based blockchain network TON, has announced the imminent launch of a new infrastructure dubbed TON Teleport BTC.
Designed to facilitate seamless transfers between Bitcoin and TON, TON Teleport BTC aims to expand Bitcoin’s utility within the TON ecosystem, particularly in the realm of decentralized exchanges (DEXs), lending protocols, and other DeFi (decentralized finance) applications.
Explaining the functionality of the new feature, TON’s Technical Director, Anatoliy Makosov, stated, “You can now transfer Bitcoin to TON and back using TON Teleport. This decentralized and secure technology operates without intermediaries or borders. All transactions are executed via smart contracts and validated by TON blockchain validators.”
Emphasizing the security and user-friendliness of the new feature, Makosov further noted, “Storing and using Bitcoin on TON is as secure as the Bitcoin network itself, but significantly cheaper and more convenient.”
The launch of TON Teleport BTC is anticipated in the near future.
