A much-awaited debate between former President of the United States, Donald Trump, and the head of Tesla, Elon Musk, happened on X after an elapsed forty-minute technical hold. The interview, which marked Trump’s return to the platform, delved into a variety of topics, with Musk notably omitting issues related to cryptocurrency, particularly given his close association with some Bitcoin front companies and his influence on the industry.
Musk and Trump Navigate Critical Issues
Trump and Musk examined important national and global issues as Musk led the discussion toward topics like energy policy, immigration, and government spending. Trump used the platform to reinterpret his campaign themes while Musk offered details on technological advancements and recommended establishing a presidential committee focused on government efficiency, which Trump fervuously backed. The discussion focused on their various points of view on significant issues, but the clear absence of bitcoin discussions had many wondering why such a broad topic was omitted.
Among the other subjects discussed were danger of nuclear war, climate change, and energy policy. Most significantly, however, was the complete lack of discussion concerning cryptocurrencies—an issue that many had assumed would be on the table in light of Musk’s past impact on markets. Due to the increase of the importance of topic of the digital currencies in discussions of economics, this absence has raised question as to the reasons for the exclusion.
Musk connected the delay in the start of the interview to a distributed denial-of- service (DDoS) attack, even though it was not clear whether this arose from malicious behavior or merely excessive traffic. The Harris campaign called the meal a “self-serving exchange” between “self-obsessed rich guys.”
