Trump Expected at Bitcoin 2024 Conference

Based on an about:blankstory, former President Donald Trump might be going to Nashville to address Bitcoin 2024 later in July.

Trump’s Crypto Support

Axios, which quoted two people familiar with the subject on Monday, reports Trump is in negotiations to speak at the event. Along with Republican Sens. Bill Hagerty and Marsha Blackburn and former presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, other politicians will speak at Bitcoin 2024, including presidential contender Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

Close to the matter, a source informed that Trump was invited to the conference but could not confirm if he would actually speak or show up.

Said Brian Hughes, Trump’s senior advisor, in an email to The Block, “crypto is under attack.”

Biden and Democrats target “crypto innovators and others in the technology sector,” Hughes added. “President Trump is ready to inspire American leadership in this and other emerging technologies, while Biden stifles innovation with more regulation and higher taxes.”

Over the past two months, ahead of the November contest, the presumed GOP presidential nominee has ratcheted up support for cryptocurrencies. Saying miners help to maintain the integrity of the electrical system, he advised attendees at an event at Mar-a-Lago earlier this month that he would support bitcoin mining in the White House. He also declared he would cease “Joe Biden’s crusade to crush crypto” and would welcome political contributions in the form of cryptocurrency.

Biden’s Changing Stance on Crypto

Meanwhile, President Joe Biden’s re-election team has been consulting crypto industry members for direction on digital asset policies. That represents a dramatic change from the less-than-favorable posture the Biden administration takes on cryptocurrencies.

On Thursday, CNN is organizing a debate in which both men will participate. Citing U.S. House-passed crypto legislation in May, advocacy organization Stand with Crypto posted a form last week urging people to fill it out, asking CNN to question the candidates their stance on crypto. Dubbed FIT 21, the Republican-led measure seeks to control the crypto sector and has attracted backing from 71 Democrats, including California Representative Nancy Pelosi, former Speaker of the House.
