Vitalik Buterin’s Account Hacked! Ethereum’s co-founder Vitalik Buterin’s Twitter account was hacked last night. This incident didn’t last very long.
After approximately 15 to 20 minutes, the account was recovered, and the shared post was removed. The breach was reported by the security company PackShield. The shared post indicated that his account appeared to have been hacked.
In the pinned post at the top of the account, a link was added with the intention of phishing. The link was meticulously designed to appear genuine and encourage people to click on it. As a result, his Account hacked.

The tweet currently appears to have been deleted. Although the account wasn’t compromised for an extended period, some sources suggest that over 500 individuals were defrauded through this link. Buterin’s post was related to the Proto-Danksharding feature. As we know, this feature will be introduced to the Ethereum network in the near future.
In the post, Buterin mentioned that Consensys would launch an NFT to celebrate the arrival of this feature. The shared link was meant for obtaining this NFT for free. However, individuals who clicked on the link and connected their wallets suddenly witnessed their wallets being emptied.
This situation marks the first occurrence of Vitalik Buterin’s Twitter account being compromised. Similar incidents have not been reported before. Additionally, it’s worth noting that Buterin officially maintains only a Twitter account.
