Bill Pulte, a close ally of Trump and head of the FHFA, sent a letter to Attorney General Pam Bondi highlighting possible mortgage fraud involving Cook. Pulte claims that certain documents related to mortgages Cook obtained in Michigan, Ann Arbor, and Georgia could indicate potential criminal offenses.

According to Pulte’s letter, Cook took a 15-year, $203,000 mortgage in Michigan in 2021, which required the property to be her primary residence for at least one year. Shortly afterward, she allegedly obtained a 30-year, $540,000 mortgage on another property in Georgia, which was listed as a rental. Pulte suggests this could indicate a fraudulent violation of mortgage conditions by concealing the intended use of the property.
Potential Scope of Investigation
The letter raises concerns that Cook may have obtained favorable mortgage terms despite not meeting the required conditions. Attorney General Bundy is expected to examine whether any of these actions constitute potential criminal conduct.
Late Wednesday, Trump publicly called on Cook to resign immediately via social media and a press release, signaling possible future steps by him and his allies in financial and legal matters.
